Aqua Aerobics, Water Aerobics or Aqua Fitness, as it is also known, is aerobic exercise in water. Participants perform various exercises under the supervision of a Physiotherapist to improve their strength, balance and cardiovascular fitness.
Our classes are of 45 minutes duration with three phases - warm up, strength and conditioning and cool down/stretch. Participants work at their own pace and the physiotherapist, who is also in the pool, can modify each exercise to suit an individual’s fitness level and physical ability. We provide the appropriate aquatic exercise equipment and buoyancy aides.
All participants are required to complete a health assessment questionnaire before their first class. A sample of our pre-screening questionnaire can be found here. If you answered YES to any of the questions, you may require further clearance from your primary general practitioner. The physiotherapist will discuss the questionnaire with you to determine whether further clearance is needed before participating in the Aqua Aerobics class. If you are cleared to participate, you will be shown the correct use of each piece of equipment. No matter what your age, sex or fitness level, Aqua Aerobics can be beneficial to you.
Our pool is 10 metres long and 6 metres wide. The depth varies from 1.05 metres in the shallow end to 1.40 metres at the deep end and is accessed by both stairs and a mechanical lifter. Showers, change rooms and lockers are provided for your comfort and convenience.
Class fees are $15 or $12 (pensioner/concession). You can also purchase multi visit passes. We are registered with Fitness Australia as a gym facility with some health funds offering a rebate on your class fees. Please phone and book your place as the classes are quite popular.
N.B. Health Fund rebates vary and are dependent on your level of cover and their rebate criteria. Please contact your health fund for this information.
