3 Simple Ways to Practise Self-Care

A big warm hello to all of our clients and friends. We are happy to be back with our monthly blogs at Newcastle Aquatic Physiotherapy. While we are almost back to our pre-COVID services, our safety policies and measures as a COVID-safe Newcastle business are still in place which you can read in our previous posts. We will continue to post updates regarding our changes in services. This month's post is focusing on mental health, mainly the way we use self-care in our daily liv

Newcastle Aquatic Physiotherapy: Our Response to NSW Health Recommendations

This post has been created to update our clients response to the recommendations made by NSW Health Friday 24th July regarding the use of masks in hospital and community health settings. Newcastle Aquatic Physiotherapy encourages our patients and clients to wear a mask where possible if receiving treatment or care within 1.5 metres. NAP Follow-Along Workout #2

Our physiotherapist Chloe is back with a second follow-along workout while our patrons are self-isolating. We have broken down the workout into 4 short videos: 2 cardio-based sets and 2 strength-based sets. The cardio-based exercises are 30 seconds each with 2 rounds per workout. No equipment is necessary for the cardio workouts as all seated exercises can be performed in standing but we recommend a chair for stability if needed. For the strength based workouts we recommend a

    NAP's Follow-along Isolation Workout!

Our physiotherapist Chloe McKinnon has teamed up with Aveo Newcastle to provide weekly group exercises classes with their residents. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have unfortunately had to discontinue all of our face to face group classes. To keep our participants active we’ve placed a short workout follow-along video similar to our weekly Friday group class. If you are not part of the regular group you are welcome to follow along too! The video can be broken down

How Do Online Consultations Work? NAP's Guide to Telehealth

As you may have seen in our previous blog posts, Newcastle Aquatic Physiotherapy has decided to close its doors to all face-to-face consultations including our face-to-face classes and hydrotherapy pool in response to COVID-19. While we understand this is not an easy decision, it allows for our clients and staff to practice self-isolation which helps to reduce the risk of community acquired COVID-19. Our team now provide online services in the form of video conferencing and t

    At-Home Exercises for Beginners

As per the Australian Government’s recommendations, we are all experiencing an unknown period of self-isolation with exception of going outdoors to exercise and purchasing essentials. We understand this is a difficult time for a lot of people at the moment, and our staff is exercising self-isolation by discontinuing all face-to-face consultations and classes. If you are self-isolating at the moment, we want to ensure that you are still keeping as active as possible during thi

    Physio-Tips for a Healthy Holiday

As we get closer to the holiday period, it is normal for our schedules to get busier. This can often disrupt our daily routine. This is especially the case if your time is now split between organising events and spending time with family and friends. The holiday season is a common time for chronic injuries to creep up again for a number of reasons: 1. You are run off your feet!
