A question we sometimes receive from new client intake is “why do I need an assessment before I get into the pool?”
We understand some new clients have previously engaged in a hydrotherapy program either at another facility or with another physiotherapy team in the area. Here are a few reasons:
Safety!
We are very excited to have a new client experience our on-site hydrotherapy pool, but we need to know who you are, and understand your mobility needs and level of assistance required to access the facility. While you may have previously attended another facility, it is our responsibility to ensure that you are able to navigate ours safely and independently and check if there have been any changes in health status and/or health conditions since your last program was developed. Our facility has a set of stairs as well as a hydraulic pool hoist with lifters available if you are managing a condition that affects your movement and require assistance with transfers.
We want to help YOU!
Newcastle Aquatic Physiotherapy offers a professional team of physiotherapists dedicated to providing the best rehabilitation in a first class, state of the art facility. We provide Physiotherapy services to a range of clients both in and out of the hydrotherapy pool. The initial consultation and assessment is integral to our team to gain a thorough understanding of your needs and your goals. Our physiotherapists can then develop and prescribe an appropriate treatment that is individualised for you to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Booking an appointment
Private patients can self refer to our Practice for therapy or you can be referred by your GP. Workers Compensation, Third Party, Enhanced Primary Care and Department of Veteran’s Affairs patients will require a Doctor’s referral. Bookings can be made via calling us at (02) 4955 0143 or speaking to our friendly reception team at our clinic.
It is the responsibility of the client to notify the physiotherapist if there are any changes to their mobility status or health condition(s). Clients that have experienced changes to either mobility status or health condition(s) require a re-assessment by a physiotherapist prior to accessing the hydrotherapy pool. Clients accessing the pool independently are required to have an annual physiotherapy assessment to ensure that there are nil changes to their health condition and to provide appropriate exercises relevant to their current health status and rehabilitation.
